Need to buy something online quick for delivery tomorrow.

Any ideas for what a 7 year old likes (£30-50) these days? He likes Lego, war films and running around screaming like any other 7 year old boy.

I'd rather get him something a bit more than simply another DS game. Are there any 'cool' toys out there at the moment he'd love?

Thanks smile

Get him an R4 card for his DS and save yourself a shed load of money in the future...

Serious suggestion - are there any sort of lego box things to hold it all in that you can get?!

There is always more coming out all the time.

How about a Ben 10 Omnitrix
A remote control car
A mini drum kit or guitar
Skateboard
Meccano
Football kit or a pair of football boots
Some books suitable for his age and some sweets?
A pop up tent
Swingball

Failing all the that the old PH fave... Coke and hookers?

Bit nerdy, but my 7 year old (soon to be 8) is really getting into his Warhammer stuff from the Games Workshop, take a look at www.games-workshop.com for ideas and then for a better deal try www.waylandgames.co.uk. If he likes building (ie. Lego), then he might enjoy building his own Warhammer army (although it can be a bit fiddly) and painting them.

If he likes building and war type stuff have you thought about Airfix - there are some lovely Battle of Britain sets around,or small Spitfire or Red Arrow type sets that he could have a go at if he's got someone suitably minded who could help him.

Or, these sets are really good http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Learning/Scienc... They can learn all about electrical circuits and build their own radio etc. - lots of fun.

Sod a 7yr old, those nerf guns are getting bought for my bro!

Hang on, maybe "sod a 7yr old" isn't the way to post on the internet. I might change that.

My two (and me) are into 40k. While its a fantastic hobby it is expensive (price hikes on the way, again) and at that age will require a fair amount of help to begin with. Building the models is a big step up from Lego (certainly not beyond a 6 year old with assistance), even if you stick to the all plastic kits. He'll need to use clippers, modelling knives and plastic cermet. Certain models are only available as metal, these require super glue and to do it properly need pinning. Then you get onto the painting. If you want to go down this route I'd recommend going into a GW store and talking to the guys in there, they'd be willing to help get him started, just don't forget to ask about the costs as they can gloss over that. A decent sized army will set you back about £150+ not including paint and other sundries.

Bakugans seem to be the craze at my kids' school.

Absolutely agree with you, although you can still have fun building and painting without having to spend £150. It's a hobby that can last them for years and years and gives you lots of options for future presents !

Play.com have just reduced these from £70 to £40 - I'm thinking about getting one for both my 6 and 10 year olds for next birthdays. Highly rated on gadget show.

On the total opposite end of scale - these are great - make your own Tin Can Alley on the cheap with empty bottles and the like.

RC helicopters are great, but a little fragile. My 7 year old got almost ten minutes out of the last one before ruining it.

What about a full box of bloody match attack cards? That's all mine seems to do.
