Ok so most people are now wise to the attempts by scammers when we are buying and selling cars. We know to take care on ebay. But ive just had this email response to an ad i am running at the moment and quite frankly im astounded- things must be desperate in Nigeria!

Hello.

This is just to let you to know that i came across your advert on thewebsite and I'm very interested in buying it from you.
I'll like you to kindly writeback if you still have it for sale and what is your final price?
Also I'll really appreciate itif you can send me some recent pictures. Meanwhile i live in England , but I will likeyou to know that I will personally take care of the shipping of the down to my location.

Thank you.

Regards, John

Hi charlie

I had exactly the same email to my advert : http://www.horsedeals.co.uk/horses-for-sale/perfor...

My response was come and see the horse, leave a £200 deposit if you like her and the rest in cash when you collect.

Its definately a scam.

Anyway hopefully some normal sane person will come and buy her.

You should send an email back asking whether they want you to post the horse by royal mail or DHL

Can you haggle over a horse? Can't exactly knock the price down due to lack of service history. hehe

Seriously though, what are the running costs of a horse, so to speak?

I would think about the same as running an M3

Blooooooody loads. They make running a sports car look cheap.

My family are all into their horses and that is what a large chunk on thier disposable income goes on.
£5000 for a reasonable horse, the sky is the limit though
£30,000 for 5 acres (enough for maybe 2 horses at the max)
Renting a stable if you cant afford land etc: £80-£120 a week, full liverly
horse trailer £2000+
expensive 4x4 so you can tow the horse trailer
vets bills (depends on how lucky or unlucky you are that year)
Food: not sure exactly off the top of my head, but i'm guessing approx £15 a week.
Getting the horses shoes changed every few months £60
bedding £5-10

Edit: and all of the horse wear (saddles £500+, rugs, etc) then all the rider wear (helmets, boots etc)

There goes the idea of getting a horse to commute on then. hehe

Must keep my OH away from this thread, she's already muttering about buying another horse to bring on since her current boy is the grand old age of 17!

OP - lovely hunter, good luck with the sale.
