Self-service checkouts.

God it's so frustrating when it's busy and you are queuing up for them and the people using them just have NO CLUE how to use them.

I kind of like them but loath them for that reason.

I assuming they must have done some study to show most people can adapt and learn, but from what I am seeing just scanning a bar code is too much for some people.

When they were first installed in Asda a couple of years ago I despised them and significantly embarrased my girlfriend by getting irate 3/4 the way through the process and then packing everything back into the basket, telling the attendant to do one and going to a normal checkout.

The software in the new ones in Morrisons is such a leap forward that they're my primary checkout choice now as people still seem to be afraid of them so they are always quiet.
There are definately improvements to be made as there are still occasional hiccups when it asks me to remove what I've not yet put in the bag or has a hissy. Normally it's a hot attendant so I now wait patiently as they sort it double-quick. They are also overly-polite and apologetic so it's clear there are still issues with the software.

Oh, I also apologise to the Asda attendant...
