Sorry, random question of the week - is it possible to look-up the upcoming hearings that a Magistrates court has? Is it online or can you check at the court itself? Just wondering?

Thanks in advance.

The lists are usually posted up in the foyer on the day. Don't know if you can get them in advance, to be frank they are not exactly the most organised of things in general. Even if you go to the High Court you just stand in the main area past security and scour the lists for the rooms and cases.

The local rag has contacts with the court and get a heads up of future cases of interest.

Ha, good old Courts.

'If you sent out hearing date letters by 'Signed for' post then it would stop defendants pretending they didn't get the letter, lodging an appeal and necessitating two further hearings'

'But that would be too expensive sir'

'It costs about £1 extra; why not add £1 to the £75 hearing fee?'

'Uh... we're too busy'

'Yes, you're too busy because you have three times as many hearings because you don't send crucial letters out by 'Signed for' post. For the sake of £1 (retrieved via a £76 hearing fee) you could all go home at lunchtime.'

'Uh..... don't know...'
