Seriously, they choose to take on a dumb animal and cater to all it's needs, put up with it's smell and tendancy to use the garden as a giant urinal, and think of it as "one of the family".

Really? How many of your other family members run over and lick your face after they've spent half an hour cleaning their arse with their tongue?

There go the dog owners, led about behind a dumb animal as it sniffs and licks anything unhygenic it can find, obediently picking up it's sh*t and talking to it like it's listening. Do they not realise how stupid they look walking along with their bag of poo behind a dog that wouldnt care if they were alive or dead as long as someone is around to feed it and pick up it's sh*t?

Then there's the "but it's a guard dog" lot. Sorry, but Pebbles is going to run away and hide under the bed the first time anyone who looks remotely threatening breaks into your house. "Ooh, but he barks angrily at the Postman, and Ive seen him viciously attack his doggy toy", if you really loved your dog you wouldnt think of it in any way as protection, cause one swift kick to the head and Pebbles is fertilising the garden.

They're noisy, pointless, and dont actually make great company due to the fact they give nothing back. "Loyalty, love, companionship" dont be daft, the dog doesnt care who it's with as long as they feed it and give it a roof, dont for a minute think you have some special bond with this animal that licks it's balls all day and then wants to give you a biiiig kiss hello when you walk in the door. If it loved you it'd at least take a drink before doing that, and would hold onto it's poos until you got somewhere private so you dont look like a sap with a bag of poo. Plus it wouldnt pee on your carpet and would take a bath occassionaly so it didnt smell as bad.

Working dogs, great, round up sheep, help the Police. Some form of life partner? That's just stupid.

hehe Brave man, but largely well said.

Smelly sycophants with more teeth than braincells. And they piss all over the place when you aren't looking. I really don't see the attraction.

I think that's a bit of a generalisation, not all dog owners are like that.

I think the OP has seen the cat thread, and his mouse toy has been chucked out of the cat-pram.
