I don't know if some of you buy any military surplus equipment, but I am wanting recommendations for where you would recommend to buy from?

There are loads of sites online, so please don't just say let me google that for you.

I am wanting recommendations catalogue or online is fine by me.

Silent,

There was a test case last year, and apparently it's alright to have that hobby now.

Google "Max Mosely vs Daily Mirror" for a full report.

I am only wanting bits like:

Gillie Suit
Combats
Boots
Webbing

Then a bit of field gear on top.

Gillie Suit isn't that important, as I may just make one.

I've bought some boots and a hunting jacket from a place called Patrol Base in Milnsbridge, Huddersfield. Good quality kit.

You can buy online from them:

Silvermans & Soldier of Fortune are probably the two biggest and probably longest established, but not neccessarily the cheapest.....but a lot depends on what you are after in particular, as biggest isn't always the best if you are after specific items....?

Silvermans, I have used those before when I was younger.

Remember the name. I will check the above mentioned companies out.

I have gone back to air cadets as a Civilian Instructor, so I will be taking part in a lot of the field craft.

Which is why I am wanting to know where to get the equipment, I may go wild and buy lots of junk. However I am wanting good quality gear.

I am based in York.

I would need to measure, I'm 6'4'' and a reasonably large frame.

I shall measure tonight.

Ok...I'm 6ft and 14 1/2 stone, so not small.

I'm not quite sure what will be availible yet, but I should think Green DPM snd some desert stuff will be up for grabs.

Webbing will be handed back so I cant do.

Are you going to help out at the Air Cadets on Burton Stone lane? 110 Squadron is it? I used to go there as a lad.
I may also have some gash bits of greens you can have gratis, I am also based in York mate. What size feet you got? And head size, I have a spare kevlar.

Edited to add, Army Navy stores in York, just opposite Whipmawhopmagate have a good stock of surplus gear from what I remember from being a youth.

No, I went to the best squadron 2487. Although 110 is now being run by two former 2487 men. So up in Easingwold.

I would always accept anything free. Size feet are 12/13, I don't know my head size off the top of my head.

I know the Army Navy Stores on Fossgate, but are damned expensive for not good quality gear.

With all these sellers making a profit on Surplus gear, is it any wonder our troops are complaining about the lack of equipment?

Takes the piss.
