Over the last couple of years my wife and I have often thought of living abroad, usually triggered by something crap the Government / chav / scrounger etc has done.

However after this weekend with the superb weather, the place just seemed a touch better and more appealing.

I really cold stomach the place a whole lot more if at least we got the weather!!

smile

Unfortunately quite often it is the people who depress me and make us want to live elsewhere, thick, loud, irritating, rude and selfish with no sense of responsibility. Moving to another country just means the weather is a bonus (Though Australia is coming off the list at this point).

It would help, for sure, but it (the country) would still be in the same state with all its problems...

Yes. What my Internet wife just said.

Every country has it's problems and I'm sure it's residents are complaining about the same things.

Maybe anyone who "Hates the UK" should really be looking at their own personal circumstances.

Afterall you can't run away from yourself.

Nope. I like our weather (well, south of England, at least).

Relentless sunshine and heat would be brain-numbingly boring and turn people into lethargic psychopaths. Even more.

And make our landscape much less pretty.

We'd be better at sport for one thing.

Can't they just tow us 400 miles south. hehe

I'd be happy living abroad (somewhere sunny) during November to the end of February and here the rest of the time. Probably cheaper, given the heating bills!

Unfortunately when the sun comes out, so does topless chavs, fat bints with their beer bellies out and 10 children from different dads on each arm

So only if your in a quiet area it would be much better!

Where does this idea come from that the UK has crap weather? We actually have a brilliant climate when you think about it. It's very rarely excessively hot or cold, freak weather events like hurricanes, bush fires etc are almost unheard of, there's lush greenery everywhere you look and snow is a big enough rarity to get a day off work.

Stop whinging, you feckers.

It's those long wet, cold, dreary summers that get me trawling the net for a place in the sun. I don't mind our climate - or country for that matter - when we're blessed with a decent summer, but I can't stand being forced to wear winter clothes in July.

I dislike the really hot days we are having at the moment. I do like a cool summers eveing though.

Generally I would take the cold over hot if I had to choose one or the other. After all its easier to warm up with layers than it is to cool down by taking clothing off.

I like our weather.

It changes, it's never the same, it's not boring. It has its downside but doesn't everything?

I live in Scotland, so even if it only rained for 360 days a year, that would be enough to significantly improve the quality of life up here.

I'm not sure how people up here haven't turned mouldy.

Technically, yes, as you would have more vitamin D produced in the body and vitamin D is related to happiness in the long run.

To be fair though, I remember those heady days - it's as though when the sun came out early in the year folk really would seem happier and nicer.

Ahh the great British summertime...
