Was I out of order?
Discussion
I have recently been ejected from a WW2 Historical Society for suggesting that the German people got what they deserved at the hands of the Red Army who looted, plundered and raped their way across Germany in 1945.
According to the club secretary, he has never heard such disgusting and gross comments in all his time in the society.
I don't understand it. Surely he can't be so naive as to think that that sort of thing didn't happen or that the people who wanted to unleash a whirlwind of death and destruction upon the Soviet people got everything they deserved. Personally, looking at it from my point of view, I'm glad they didn't get away with it and were duly 'punished' for actively supporting Nazism. Did the society over-react, or am I not seeing things clearly?
It's genuinely bothering me, this.

So to break down what you said, a German woman deserved to be raped because the country she lived in was being run by a tyrant?I think that's pretty reprehensible.

Thank you for your comments.
It's strange how nobody supported the Nazis. Even in East Prussia.
I didn't say it was justifiable, but my point is that when the going was great for them, they didn't give a toss about anyone but themselves. I mean Christ, there were instances of Red Army soldiers finding lamps etc made out of human skin (not many, I grant you).
The fact that the Red Army went through Germany like a dose of salts just doesn't get to me. They took everything they wanted from the Germans who did eaxctly the same to them, the only difference was that the Soviets didn't have a policy of extermination.

No, they raped, looted and pillaged innocent Germans. Just as some of the German army did to innocent Soviets. Each act as vile as the other.Benjaminpalma said:

Firstly, your society is better off without you. Red card is in order. Secondly, not a very good society if you didn't know about Stalin's extermination policies. Or come to that, that the NSDAP came to power as the biggest party in the Reichstag but not with an overall majority. In other words, they did not have the backing of the majority of the German people in 1933. They effectively bullied and cajoled the other parties into extinction. It's strange how nobody supported the Nazis. Even in East Prussia.

So, the German people were not all screeming Hitlerites and even though a lot joined the party, did so out of fear.
To say the German civilians got what they deserved at the hands of the Soviets, is at best crass, but is totally out of order.
Who said I know nothing of Stalin's policies? I know all about them. I meant when the frontline soldiers entered Germany.
And I know the stats on the Nazi Party.
Did these people do anything when the Jews started disappearing or when young Russian girls were traded as slaves, or when the concentration camps were found? I could go on.
