Post office passport check and send service...
Discussion
I paid for this service 2 weeks ago to renew my expired passport. I recieved a letter on saturday morning from the passport office stating "the name or date (or place) of birth on my passport is different to the details you entered onto your application form".
I now have to send them my birth certificate to correct the situation. Will i be able to claim my money back from the Post Office seen as though they should of spotted the mistake? Cant seem to find the terms and conditions of the service on the PO websire.

From Directgov:
What to do if
(when more like) the Post Office makes a mistake
If there is a mistake or oversight on the part of the Post Office, you can ask for a refund of their handling charge.
Neither IPS nor the Post Office will be responsible for any indirect or resulting loss you may have suffered. This includes (but is not limited to) any loss of opportunity, profit, income or reputation. This means that, although you can claim a refund of the Check & Send handling charge, you cannot claim for anything that has happened to you as a result of your passport being delayed.

why did you not just write what it says on the passport on the form?
i appreciate "check and send" implies they will check it but surely its your fault for not writing the same location as your passport on the form. i ppreciate it might not be obvious that the two must be the same if it does not say so but logic dictates that you wouldnt have two different locations stated as the person processing the form mihgt not be aware that the two locations you stated are close or one is part of teh other eg london and chelsea?
