In the office we have this old chap he's in his 60's he's at associate level so decent salary, his house is paid for company car and so on.
It's perfectly clear from looking at him that he spend no money on clothes.
But it's his tightness that gets me most, a few examples.

Going out for a days surveying he drives in to work just to fill his flask up with coffee.

He has a little plastic mineral water bottle that he refills with tap water. He moaned the other day its was going a little green at the bottom. So as he walks through the park he will look for a discarded one, but he did clarify he would give it a good wash!!! as these things cost about 25p you know.

Today his wife phoned and asked him to pick some milk up, he said he would nip to waitrose which is more or less next to the office. His wife went mental there not paying there prices he had to walk to Asda about 3/4 mile away.
He then told me she is worse than him.

To clarify yes he is from Yorkshire as I am but this guy is unbelievable.

I used to know a bloke whom if you offered him a coffee from the Klix machine (cost 10p) would decline, but would have the 10p instead. He also used to keep a jar for collecting shots of sugar from said Klix machine when folks were at the machine and not having sugar.

That's pretty bad!

Many many years ago I worked in a kitchen of a french restaurant. When the waiter cleared the tables, he'd scoop up any leftover butter from peoples plates into a tub and take it home once a month!

My x partners mum and stepfather are both extremley wealthy, but regularly steam stamps off envelopes to re use. I could go on with plenty of other examples, but I guess that is why they have considerably more money than me!!

And there was me thinking I was tight buying an espresso machine for work rather than coughing up £2 three times a day to CostaStarbucksNero.

You don't work at a structural engineers in Harrogate do you? (The waitrose near by)

Personally I think the company is a tight wad, coffee while you're out surveying goes on expenses wink

I'm at associate level in my pratice, but a big mortgage means I'm still skinter than skint, might need to start taking some thrift tips lol

Oi we are not all tight! Thats why I am broke.

Knew a guy, house paid for good job and wages. Wife works full time.

She was allowed £10 a week spending money all her wages he looked after.

She had to carry a little book around with her and write in it everything she bought to the penny and he would audit it to make sure it was right smile the tt.

anyway apparently she has a bit more to spend now as she has taken an evening job on top of her day job.

You've probably heard how tight Humphrey and Oliver Smith are (Previous owners to the John Smiths & Sam Smiths Label) The pair are listed in the top so many rich list yet they dress in rags. Humphrey who drives around in a 1991 Austin Metro which looks as though it's falling to pieces, bought his wife a £700 Proton after her clapped out fiesta finally died. She later left him laugh

She had to ask permission and the ballance was removed from the next weeks allowance.

Its ok now though she gets to keep most of her other jobs wages.

Yorkshireman, a Scotsman with the generosity squeezed out biggrin

I used to mechanic for a guy who sprinted a Lotus 7 & earned an absolute bloody fortune. He was amazingly tight. e.g. if we bled brakes he'd keep the jar of fluid to top up the clutch with! Oil changes were kept & used in a squirt oil can, yup s/h oil.
