Pride; a sense thereof; and its apparent disappearance.

From teenage pregnancies, to the state of front gardens to shopping in your pyjamas, our national sense of personal pride (and the intrinsically linked shame) have beeen blamed for many of the apparent ills in today's society.

How could personal pride ever be reinstated? And is it a desirable goal?

Given how well Eugenics went down last time...

idea ...we'd need someone else to start that, then conscript the right people to go and make them stop.

So personal pride is a mindset which it was good for the UK population to leave behind?

Sadly I think the rot has already set so far in that you could never expect the reversal of the bad habits and lowered personal standards that have set in and blight this modern generation.

The fact is such people really don't care, even if there is a stigma, and even if everyone is looking at them like they are dregs.

Sorry, Helmut, haven't been to Berlin for a couple of years so couldn't really comment.

We could talk about the UK if you like?

He meant the self esteem type pride as opposed to the beer.
If you reread the OP you'll see what I mean

One man come in the name of love, one man come and go.
One man come here to justify, one man to overthrow.

In the name of love, what more in the name of love?

In the name of love, what more in the name of love?

Stop hanging around council estates, reading the Daily mail and switch off BBC News 24 and you'll find things aren't as bad you think wink

Winky not in fact needed. It could well be that that the perception exceeds the reality... scratchchin

@JAYB - it's not easy sorting out the UK's problems whilst simultaneously masterminding the invasion of Poland, you know! Though, remind me why Poland's worth invading confused

I almost added "don't spend so much time on PH" to the list, but you don't want to become completely out of touch with reality.
