Flippin Teso Self Service Tills
Discussion
This sort of thing really, really annoys me. I so hate the world now has to hide behind procedure and doesn't allow for common sense and judgement.
And yes, in this particular case I did use the facile point of me being a Director (sadly of only one company)
Preparing myself for being shot down for this.

Dear Sir/Madam,
This morning I had the unfortunate experience of using the self-service till in the Tesco Metro in Reading town centre. More often than not these tills are out of order but unfortunately for me today at least one was working and accepting cash.
When my transaction was complete I used a £10 note to pay and only received £5 in change when I should have received £7. Upon querying a member of staff and the store manager I was told this was not possible as the machine would indicate that no change had been given. Now of course we all know that machines never, ever go wrong so the only possible explanation must be that I was lying. I was told I would have to wait until Monday and that they could take my details. I demanded £2 from the till and was told this was not possible. I am not going to waste my time in the morning filling in forms for £2 and I resent the implication that I must be lying as the machine is never wrong. I walked out in disgrace at the attitude of staff.
Details on the receipt at the bottom are 4/06/10 8:17 6124 072 9072 0599
Please donate £2 to the charity of your choice when you've found the error in your machines, I really am not going to be bothered about receiving vouchers from you as I won't be shopping in Tesco again, ever, after being treated in this manner.
I suggest you remove these tills and replace them with staff as they are more trouble than they are worth.
Regards,
xxxxx

So yes, I did quite deliberately portray myself as a pompous, self important arse. I thought I'd made that clear.Do you walk past 'normal' people in the street thinking less of them as they may not be directors?
I can't fathom why it'd matter.

Spelling it out for the hard of thinking
I did it because of the I'm a director theme on PH.
I was labouring under the, obviously misguided, impression that using the word facile in my original post might have given the game away a little.
oh right.I did it because of the I'm a director theme on PH.

You were trying to be ironic and amusing.
Sorry, I missed that bit.

So, did it actually go in the letter (petty and facile I did it because of the I'm a director theme on PH.

) or was it added for the benefit of the millionaire directors on PH to give you that nod you've been hoping for?Edited by illmonkey on Friday 4th June 09:33
8pm last Saturday in my local, (full sized), branch, there were NO manned tills open. Fine for me with only a couple of bits, but the couple next to me with a trolley full were NOT impressed.
I saw them complaining to the manager but he couldn't give a monkeys and told them he couldn't do anything. I watched them try and use a self-service till, but they gave up and just walked out in disgust. Can't say I blame them!
