I went out last night to the pub with my best mate and we bumped inot a few other mates, however the attention of the conversation at one point turned to my shirt...

It was a hot evening so i cracked out one of my summer shirts, i.e. nice thin cotton (long sleeve, of course, rolled halfway up my forearms...) Anyway said shirt has a floral/paisley pattern, Paul Smith style but its a Nicole Farhi shirt. Not garish at all, worn with some smart indigo jeans.

It apppears though that such shirts are the reserve of the ginger beer community and are just generally a no no. Infact one chap, a friend of a friend actually thought i was gay on the grounds of said shirt until he was corrected!

I won't stop wearing said shirt as i think it's nice, just interesting to see peoples perceptions. Any other PHers own floral shirts then...?

Does a T-shirt with a cannabis leaf on it count?

Does this work the same for floral shirts?

There is never any ginger beery-ness in any shirt.

I am however, somewhat alarmed by your detailed knowledge of brands (or worse yet, designers) and the precise detail of how you rolled the sleeves.

That and the fact that you wear jeans that aren't Levi 501's is a pretty telling clue that you are a secret batsman for the home team.

I've got a wardrobe full of shirts that sounds similar to that one, although I stopped buying the fancy expensive ones a long time ago.

Wear it with pride, like James May.

Only after paying for it!!! At least you could vomit down the front of it and nobody would notice.
