If allowed, would you own a hand gun for sporting pleasure. Or a sub machine gun like a MP5k? I would if i had places to use such things. In fact i would as far to say i would probably invest in hand guns. Some beautiful models have been made, its such a shame i can't have a Desert Eagel .50 .

If the law allowed me to defend my family and property in a similar way that it does in the US, then yes i would buy and learn to use a firearm for home protection.

But it doesn't.

Having lived in a country (South Africa) where all sorts of guns can be held legally, I would have to say no.

Although some people there do carry them responsibly, there are others who do not.

I have witnessed a 45 calibre weapon being pulled on somebody in a drunken brawl (fortunately no shots fired).

I personally had a gun aimed at me in a road rage incident. (I wasn't at fault)

So I'm now happy to be living in a society which is (relatively) gun free, and such things as handguns are illegal.

Sadly, guns give some people a feeling of superiority and invincibility.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

If it was legal I don't think I'd have a choice and I'd enjoy it as a hobby.

That being said I'm glad handguns/smgs are illegal for the obvious reasons.

Trusty Air rifle is all I need... Until I get enough money saved up for a decent 12 bore that is.

Yes, But not Automatic I don't see the need for them.
I would have as many shotguns as I could afford, love them for the Craftsmanship in the manufacture.

Good to see I'm not the only person who clicked both optionshehe

I don't have much need for a gun though, what with living in a city.

May I refer you to the news of a week or so ago.....

If you want a gun, that isnt a neccessity then you shouldnt be allowed one, very few people need one and I am happier that they dont by and large.

I miss target shooting at the local army range. I'd have to say that I could see guns creeping in to my life again as a hobby but I'd happily leave my "shooters" stored securely at the local gun club rather than have the rigmarole of storing ammo and weapons separately at home. I'd be paranoid about something horrible happening during a break-in... The short answer is I think guns in the right environment are cool and fun, not just a working man's tool and an essential piece of equipment for the armed forces so yes I could see myself at least joining a friend at a local range for a go with their guns smile

Yes, though I'd mainly have a rifle or two as I can't shoot a pistol for toffee, so I'd have to practise like mad with in.

I don't think I'd have any use for an MP5 or SMG really though.

Many reasons to collect guns (same as with cars). Sometimes it's the technology. Sometimes it's the utility. Every so often, however, there is a work of art...

If it were legal to own a hand gun or small automatic I'd have one.

However, I'd prefer the gun laws to stay as they are.

So based on one maniac nobody else should have one? (I do appreciate that there have been other similar events.)

Not everyone that wants to own (or does own) a gun is a psychotic serial-killer.
Unfortunately for a while in this country we have been stuck in a cycle of regulation and not education.
Don't bother telling anybody anything, just stop them doing it. rolleyes

A whole page and no mention of the broomhandled mauser or the Luger.

What is this place coming to??

Anyway, i would own several more, to complement the collection as it is.

I do have a lovely lee enfield converted to a .410 still with its original oil bottle in the stock.

God i love that gun smile
