Not a chance of me doing that. Now, BASE jump Angel Falls - I'd love to. Dive with a Great White - yes please. But that? Hell no..........

Makes me gasp for air and feel claustrophobic just watching and I didn't have issue with either.

Very much so - I'm always amazed with people holding their breath for that amount of time too eek - I was waiting for a diver to give him oxygen when he got to the bottom.

The depth of that hole is about 200M however the actual dive was about 100M.

I have spoken to a few free divers in my time and they all just say that its a matter of convincing yourself and your body that it has enough oxygen in it to survie. Not that I am saying dive down and tell yourself this and hey presto your a free diver, it does actaully take a hell of a lot of training and conditioning to do even short dives of say 30M.

Very good, how do people hold their breaths so long, I can do about 1 min 15 seconds, but if I moved around that time is drastically cut down and I start gasping. Tried it once under water and it wasn't fun when I almost breathed before getting to surface, had to really force myself not to.

World record for holding one's breath is a bit over 17 minutes.

Incredible really.

Years of practice and yoga. Even for normal divers yoga will improve your air consumption.

Brilliant video that.

I will now how recurring nightmare of that bit when he comes to stand on the top of the hole and his feet are sliding through the soft sand, and you just can't stop your self going over the edge..... arrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

And he looks ridiculously cool stood on the edge of the hole just waiting to go.

I have no idea, lots of training.

I'll give it another go tomorrow in the pool, but I usually swim 50 lengths (20m pool) then stop and do two lengths underwater along the bottom of the pool.

If I were to have a go before doing the 50 lengths i'd possibly be able to manage 3 lengths?

Not sure how long that takes?

I'm holding my breath now.

2 mins relatively comfortable (didn't want to start gasping for air in the office hehe)

I suppose with training it'd be possible, but it's the energy used to get back to the surface that'd freak me.

Incredible indeed.

Given that, I suppose this guy had plenty left in the tank.
