Please accept my apology on the basic "How to hack wifi post" in the thread entitled something along the lines of copyright infrigment. I should have realised that this would cause some issues and that leading people to hacking is not ethical. So I am truly sorry for posting this information.

it isnt copyright infringment its something much more serious. Still if you want to do it get a copy of Backtrack 4 (free download, free tools, all legit) and get yourself a promiscuous mode wireless adapter. Most windows based ones cost a fortune but many usb ones can, on linux, be driven promiscuously.

Backtrack is all you need

It is theft. Quite serious. However, all credit to you for your apology.

providing information on how to do something immoral/unethical is not in itself wrong. THis is why the government's law of "Possessing information that can be used in the preparation of terrorist acts" law is total bks.

didnt see what you originally said, though I think anyone actually having such equipment should be aware of the computer misuse act. There is a get out of jail free card that people within the industry have but anyone at home using such tools can get into a lot of serious bother.

Basically dont do drugs kids

And why would you want a full on hacking environment? Google would be your friend here.

Hacking, according to some is not unethical at all. Freedom of information and all that. Hacking onto someones PC, robbing their card details then wiping their hdd is.

If that attitude was adopted by many on here, I reckon the number of posts would half. wink

oh it is unethical, absolutely so. It is only ethical if you are engaged to do the work. Anyone else hiding behind such bs as FOI is having a laugh. There is the CEH (which in itself is a fking bks course) which is making in roads to trying to get people to use a recognised code of ethics and to sign members up to a code of practice. Unfortunately the course is so piss easy and based on seriously outdated work that the qualification is worth st, but hiring companies cream themselves for it.

I agree. I see no problem in having tools like the one you mentioned and the ones I mentioned. I may want to see just how secure my wireless network is and such tools aid me in making my home network more secure.

In most cases I agree, I just don't think PH is the place to discuss hacking into wireless networks smile
