Last night I watched Alexei Sayle film a tv program. I used to think he was ace and was qute excited about meeting him and watching him do the show. I used to think he was great, and liked so many programs he was in. Now I would rather I had not seen him or met him. He came across like a very bitter old man with, many of his "jokes" dying a death on stage.

So which "celebs" were you really looking forward to meeting and you came away disappointed?

Went to a Top Gear recording a while back and Richard Hammond was a bit of a miserable git. He may have been 'on' that week though.

George Best, went to shake his hand once a few years ago in Petersfield, he grunted and went back to his drink. You had to feel sorry for him as he was sat by himself in a busy bar. Legend in his time, complete drunk any other

I met James May in Mappin and Webb in Heathrow T3.
He was buying a Bell & Ross watch for about £4k.
I asked for an autograph and a picture and he said that he was too busy.He smelt of stale booze and looked like he had just got out of bed.

Its not hard to be nice is it?

No it isn't hard to be nice but imagine if that's all you ever got... it's not like he is a multi-millionaire pop star throwing himself in the press- he's a reasonable BBC presenter who is entitled to a private life....

And half way through trying to buy a watch when some gimp he doesn't know comes up and starts badgering for an autograph and picture. smile

I've seen a few famous people in airports etc.... last thing on my mind was to go over and bother them.

Bumped into David James at waterloo a few years back. I never thought he was that tall when i saw him on the telly. In reality he looks about 10ft tall. He was obviously on his way somewhere (just got off a train), I was wanting to get on the train, why bother asking him for an autograph?

Was rather irritatingly in the checkout queue behind Graham Norton a few times at the Waitrose by St Katharines dock - he looked fairly grouchy, and whilst the g/f of the time was a huge fan, it just wasn't worth asking him for a quick video call to her, or to record a video - they're all entitled to their own private lives.
