Starting with a fully functional, healthy human, how much could we currently replace with man made components?!

Do you want someone useful, or just a "Lets just replace everything" person?

We'll start with the ear, I've just had one of my inner ear bones replaced with a titanium implant. Doesn't feel bionic yet though.

Do the components have to be as functional as the parts they replace?

You could replace the legs with false legs but the persons ballet career would possibly take a turn for the worse.

And, do they even have to resemble the parts they replace? For example, could you replace a head with a big cheeseburger and call yourself cheeseburger man?

Just replace everything with something that works "averagely well" at least. I.e. Titanium legs are fine.

Dr. Hartman: I'm sorry Mayor McCheese, but I'm not sure if any cosmetic surgery is even possible.
Mayor McCheese: Look, if it's a financial issue...
Dr. Hartman: Well it's not an issue of money, your head is a cheeseburger. There is no blood flow to it, it's just dead cow meat.
Mayor McCheese: Alright, well, I appreciate you giving it to me straight.
Dr. Hartman: Alright then, have a tasty afternoon.
Mayor McCheese: (laughs slighly)
Dr. Hartman: Ah, there's a smile.

So putting them on heart bypass sitting on a bed sedated isnt such a good idea? smile

I'm pretty sure it's possible to replace every single organ in the human body with something man made. Fisher Price Man may not get up again off the operating table, but no other kid will have one this Christmas.

Don't you even get that "do-do-do-do-do-do-do" noise when your hear things really far away?

My game, my rules.

Heart bypass machine allowed, purely because it can replace the job of the heart at least "averagely well".

So at the comment that says everything can be replaces, does that include the brain and keeping all 5 senses?

I know several people who's brain could be replaced with a cabbage with no noticeable difference in function.

I have actually met and worked with someone who went through such an operation at birth.
