A little while back I posted about standing up for yourself against what seems to be an ever growing army of chavs.

Well last night I was out walking the dog, and in a nearby farmers field the local inbreds were riding around on what looks like a Honda XR, a pit bike and a crappy little quad bike.

The quad bike in particular has been plagueing our neighbourhood the last couple of months, it's knackered and can be heard a mile away. Many an otherwise pleasant evening in the garden has been spoilt by it's din.

Anyway, I deciding against writing them a strongly worded email (I don't have any directorships alas) and instead called the police. 10 minute later I had the local station back on the phone; they knew all about the quad and were very keen to find out exactly where it was.

I thought no more of it tbh, until I got a call around an hour later from the policeman who had attended. Unfortunately the two bikes had got away but they had managed to seize the quad and despite all of the chavs pleading it will now be destroyed!

I realise this means nothing to the majority of you, but I can not explain how pleased I was that;

1. The police had successfully acted on some anti-social behaviour for once
2. Some little scrotes had got what they deserved
3. We will no longer have our piece shattered by that crock of crap

Just wanted to share (again!)

Well done to you and well done to the police.

At least your local Police are proactive with these things.

We seem to be plagued around my area at the moment with kids on (probably stolen) dirt bikes and pit bikes tearing around the fields behind us and going up and down our street at break-neck speed to get to the petrol station at the end.
I contacted the Police who told me they were aware of the problem and were actively pursuing it. Needless to say, nothing's changed in the month since I spoke to them!

+1

But OP on a very serious note

Stop using literally

It can be heard a mile away - this works fine as a statement, there is no need for the additonal literally

10 minutes later I had the local station on the phone - again no need for the additonal word

Sorry to be picky I am not that much of a grammar/spelling nazi but to me the use of that word to emphasise every sentence is as bad as scrotes riding bikes in fields

Has your full stop key broken?

Oh, and it's 'additional', not 'additonal'.

Sorry, but you are being extremely picky.

This is a forum, not some literary work, I am posting as I might speak and if I choose to use additional words to express my opinions then why does is effect you and why do you need to post about it?

My spelling, puntuation and grammar are all better than 99% of the drivel which gets posted on the net and I always try to structure my posts so that they can be easily read.

If I were writing a report professionally then perhaps I would have taken those additional words out (or not used them at all), but I wasn't, so I didn't.

It annoys the hell out of me when people insist on posting in text speak or even using repeatedly using brought in place of bought etc... but to pick someone up on something like this is just plain anal and did not need to be said frankly.

Yup.

Still, it's either that or they literally wk themselves into oblivion.

Difficult to understand the context you're describing, but when I were a lad, we used to 'bomb' around on a farmers field on an old derestricted 50cc Honda. Some people our age would hang around streets causing trouble, we were just experimenting with engines and speed, somewhere far safer than a housing estate.

I would never have considered myself a chav, albeit I accept that perhaps the noise was a pain to some people.

Now you've taken away their 'fun' it's possible they'll find other less desireable ways to keep themselves amused.

Just a token thought.

effect : consequence: a phenomenon that follows and is caused by some previous phenomenon; "the magnetic effect was greater when the rod was lengthwise"
effect : produce; "The scientists set up a shock wave"
affect : have an effect upon; "Will the new rules affect me?"

I think you meant the latter rather than either of the former wink

OK, fair enough but consider;

Aside from the noise issue they are tearing up the farmers hay field (farmer was livid according to the police).

They are also excluding the rest of the public from using the public footpath running up the side of the field which is a very pleasant and popular walk.

The noise, as previously stated, is horrendous, most of the bikes are completely unsilenced.

Obviously they have no insurance and they are riding around on what are dangerous vehicles (the quad for example had the rear tyre hanging off).

They are out and out chavs, and use the bikes to intimidate and annoy others, my mate had the quad riding all over his front garden recently and last night one little darling had the audacity to buzz round me as I stood with the dog on the phone to the police (they had no idea who I was on the phone to at the time).

Finally, the bikes are probably stolen.

If they want to play around with bikes/engines there are plenty of facilities to do it legally (for example I'm sure some farmers wouldn't mind them using an empty stubble field?)

When I was their age I neither hung around causing trouble nor caused problems with motorbikes, I still enjoyed myself, I was simply brought up to have respect for other people.

Yes, that's a good idea, we are all quick to criticise the police so credit where it's due.

Re typos etc... ffs, get a life do any of you fail to actually understand my posts or are you just being pedantic morons?
