I've got the post-holiday blues. After spending a week in beautiful Montenegro, I'm back in Vienna to the same weather we left. 16C - 20C, grey skies and copious amounts of rain. It's making me utterly miserable and got me thinking.

I was chatting to the owner of a boat the wife and I chartered and he was in the same job as me. 9-5 and utterly miserable. Now he works by the sea and has a very simple, but rewarding life.

He earns very little, but he owns a beautiful motor-boat, has no debt but he says he's never been happier! Sounds rather nice to me and perhaps I could do something similar???? I'm not sure if the wife would agree but it's just a thought.

Just wondering who has done that here?

Not me, but I strongly wish I had .... almost lost my job a week ago, but I'm 'safe' (for the moment, at least....) and was looking at sodding off to Bali to do my PADI Divemaster/Director's course, then working somewhere warm with good diving.

Mate packed in his 9-5 desk job to join the RAF, in Afghanistan now.

He loves it and would never go back to the 9-5 desk job. I seriously considered it myself.

The other option of course is to emigrate to the sun and still do the same job, just means weekends and evenings will be more pleasant! smile

I gave up my 9-5 (ish) job to sit in the sun,

Well, I worked for 2 years and then progressed to where I could with out a degree, came to university to get said degree, and I'm currently outside sitting in the sun.

I'm doing this wrong aren't I.

P.S Very ish

Interesting this thread isn't more popular!

I was thinking perhaps I could simply work remotely. The beach I was at had a cracking wifi connection. I sure my productivity would rise massively if I were allowed to sit on a beach and work! smile
