This poor chap is distraught when he realises they have killed his dog...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbwSwvUaRqc

Bit over the top for what they found which was apparently a small amount of marijuana for personal use and paraphernalia. This is becoming more common apparently and the term SWATting has been born from the widespread nature of such raids. The worst of it is the poor seven year old child who must've been scared senseless.

Not going to watch or hear a dog being shot but wtf for a bit of weed!

That's not an over reaction at all!

They would say that they feared for their own safety?
Pretty drastic, but having been bitten by several "pets" I kind of agree.

Probably because the dog sees a load of angry men ripping into its owners house and so decides his owner is in danger. Dog gets shot.

Why did they use the SWAT team for that! a couple of Uniformed police in daylight could have served that warrent.

I'm guessing this was a malicious report by somebody who hates him. Told teh Police he was a terrorist or something.

But they didn't. Either bad intelligence or cockup, resulting in them looking like a bunch of thugs.

Is that the reality they wanted?

I vagely remember a story from a few years ago. Sombody with a vendeta phoned in a malicious call about somebody he didnt like. Swat goes in at silly o clock and shoots him.

I am not putting the blame on the guys on the floor they have to protect themselves and may view a black lab as a threat. remember they are going in because they think this guy is dangerous!

However due the way these things seem to be increasingly turning out bad there must be another way. How about atking out the house and stopping him as he leaves.

Can't say its about resources how many of the team where there?

they also discharged a wepon several times in the home of a 7 year old girl. I bet those slugs would easily travel through plaster walls American houses are built from.

I can find no mention anywhere of previous convictions for anything let alone violence or the police finding any wepons in the house during the search.

Seen it before and apparently the dogs were actually caged.

Overzealous indeed.

Yes 'SWATting' seems to be an actual 'thing' as it were. Very sad state of affairs. For anyone wary of the video; it's not gruesome at all - it is on YT afterall. Just leaves you scratching your head, more than anything.

It certainly upset me....listening to a poor mutt in pain, before it's finally put out of its misery when they finish the job off properly is not how I planned to start my Saturday morning frown

I am not going to watch the video at all as I know I will be too upset.

A black lab? What sort of half wit thinks a black lab is a dangerous animal..... Sounds to me like some w***er just wanted to kill something that day.

It wa sa Corgi and a Pitbull. The Pitbull was apparently in its cage. I'll stand up for the cops on virtually every occasion but shooting an animal already trapped in a cage isn't on.

I hope the guy in the video gets some sort of revenge.

Apologies - I'm on a laptop and I can't say that the sound came across to me. So, sorry about that.
