Till receipts.

So 80% of people roughly proberably use a credit/debit card..
Why not simply have a system whereby if you use a credit/debit card you are not issued with a reciept. Instead the purchase information is stored by the credit card company and can be accessed by you with a password loggin to a website somewhere..... Not too complicated given most of this information is already transmitted...
Receipts are NOT required..... any proof of purchase should be sufficient for a re-fund etc...

Better yet email you a copy of your reciept, something involving the credit card company taking data of what has been purchased. Why not simply have a system whereby if you use a credit/debit card you are not issued with a reciept. I've got in the habit of checking my supermarket receipts after finding a mistake worth quite a few quid on one.
I'd say about half of my supermarket receipts have mistakes, usually small, for a few tens of pence (not enough to go all the way back for!)....add all this up across every transaction and you can see how they make their money!

The majority I dont, unless I need them for an expenses claim, or as already pointed out as proof of purchase for a larger item.
A number of places actually ask if you need a receipt, I have a feeling this is more to prevent litter from unwanted ones around their premises as I've seem them just put my unwanted one straight in the bin, so they're not doing it to save trees.

Seriously? You think that's how they make their money, theft?I'd say about half of my supermarket receipts have mistakes, usually small, for a few tens of pence (not enough to go all the way back for!)....add all this up across every transaction and you can see how they make their money!
