Found this in my shed today, an amazing blue colour, looks and feels just like Styrofoam. So what sort of wasp/bee type thingy made it?

I'd guess an ordinary wasp but it used what it could find. They usually chew wood to make papier mache for their nests. This one must have found something else. Something blue obviously.

Hexagons are very good when it comes to making use of available space IIRC, hence why bees and wasps use such a structure.

Coincidence!

A few days ago I found about 20 dead / half dead wasps in my bedroom... I thought it was strange as the room was closed all day.

Someone said maybe they came down the chimney. Having sealed it with 4 layers of polystyrene, squirting expanding foam round the egdes and then boxing in with timber I thought nothing of it...

... Untill this morning, lay in bed, woken to the sound of an angry vaazzesssoom like horn... A wasp then exited the fireplace in a very bad mood! Do they seriously eat though this kind of stuff?!
