Pretty sure they advertise in Private Eye, though I don't have one handy. "Archole" seems popular. wink

I'll let you do the "Let me google that for you" link yourself.

I have a Lord title but it only refers to the place where my plot of land is so its Lord of Kincavel.

Im a Laird of Glencairn in Scotland, bought as a birthday present. My official title is: The Most Honoured Alexander Joshua Simon Spooner, Laird of Glencairn. You buy a plot of land that is purely a token gesture, its only 1 sq ft, but you are allowed to go to the Laird's retreat, where one can fish, shoot, bait peasants etc.

So, hold on, let me get this straight.

People pay £200 to pretend to be something they aren't? To be able to do what? Add a pretend title to your name? I don't get it.

I know a fella who bought one of these, never pays to fly business anymore, but is almost always in there anyway, so he's saved thousands just on flights which (he claims)is why he did it... personally I don't see the point but having flown with him and watched the upgrade blag happen it's amazing how easily influenced people can be wink

Isn't that just being a landlord? How does that get you a title?

I don't know how it works by any means, but my mate got his by buying a part of land in Scotland.

1M Squared IIRC.

I know a guy who did this a few years ago and he swears it's changed his life. Upgrades here, priority there, I've seen some of it myself. He even got off a parking ticket by telling the traffic warden he was dropping off "civic papers" and flashed his licence showing Lord... and he got off with it!

No different to 'buying' a star, or a square foot of the moon, neither of which are worth the paper they are printed on, but as a novelty purchase seem to do a roaring trade.

I did one for my niece a few years ago. Just knocked it up on the PC. It looks just a professional as one you would pay for, and is equally 'authentic', or not as the case may be. I really couldn't see any reason for buying one, other than being put on their register of 'owners'.

You're all thinking "tight arse" I bet tongue out
