Depends what the material is either side of it, if it is wood it'll take him about 60 seconds to get in.

Every living thing can get through a three inch wide gap if there's enough pressure from behind pushing it.
Might not fare so well on the other side though.

Yes a fox generally can get through a 3 inch wide gap, provided that the gap is tall enough though.

I've got a pair of gates which I'm (finally) putting back up. They're quite 'busy' in their design and I was hoping that the bottom half (where the bars are about spaced 3" apart) would be enough to stop the foxes from using the garden as a cut-through.

Might just see what happens - didn't really want to put chicken wire on the inside.

I would just try and and see, they will always find another way in to be honest though.

It might be deterrent enough but, will just as likely scale the gate. Bl**dy foxes.

Bu**er! Had forgotten about that thread (doesn't time fly). Not used one myself but, have you tried a Mega-Sonic Cat, Dog and Fox Repeller? If they work, let me know as I will then purchase one myself. hehe
