Right chaps, I'm off to Norn Iron for my BiL's wedding at the end of the month and need a new shirt and tie. I never wear a 'traditional' shirt these days, being the boss and all that, so all my shirts and ties are somewhat 'functional'.

I'm an average size chest (42ish) and 15.5 collar. I'm fully comfortable with my sexuality, so am happy to consider pink, lilac, and other effeminite colours. Personally I like a quality plain white shirt, but my wife says that's boring. She, by the way, is going to look stunning in a peach Karen Millen ensemble. So I wouldn't want to clash.

Point me at shirts chaps.....

Try Hawes and Curtis if you like nice stripey shirts with a decent tie. Only £25 a shirt at the mo.

White shirts are classy - providing you buy a good one with fine cloth and sharp collar. So if you like white, buy one, it's not boring. But choose your tie wisely - understated and well knotted.

If it wwre me, I'd buy a new white shirt. The £25 ones from M&S are excellent, comfortable, easy to iron and last a long time.

I would choose a tie in a solid colour to complement what my wife wears. It doesnt have to match, but complement. Ask her: she'll know

Get yourself down to a T.M. Lewin, their shirts are of excellent quality and last nicely. Their ties are pretty good too smile

I'm a huge fan of Reiss shirts, they're usually around the £90-100 mark & I've always found the quality of the material & the cut to be absolutely spot on

If you need to take your tie off at the reception then perhaps one of these (smart enough with a tie but relaxed without)

Or while you're at M&S, you could buy a tie from there too!

We used those as our 5-a-side kits last season. Didn't half put the other sides off biggrin

I could have guessed you were a City worker from those few words alone.

OP - Buy something that fits well, isn't a garish colour/design, and doesn't clash with your wife or the groom. Tonker would probably have you in chinos with a blazer for the reception, if he had his way...
