Numpties at work are failing and Google Translator is giving us some funny results.

Would some kind soul please Translate this phrase into:
  • Russian
  • Slovakian
Muchly appreciated.

'Please do not move the chairs from the smoking area'

smile
  • Russian - Ïîæàëóéñòà, íå óáèðàéòå ñòóëüÿ èç êîìíàòû äëÿ êóðåíèÿ.
P.S. let's hope PH Encoding allows it

Is there a Text Russian and a Written Russian?

As the wording I have here looks completely different...

Prasau Nephsalinti Kedzils Is Rukymo Teritrijos (I think)
Is that really slovakian?

Slovak: Neber stoličky z priestora pre fajčiarov

Russian: Не возьми стулья из зала для курящих

Both translated by a person, not some online machine translation nonsense. smile

Russian: Pozhalujsta ne zabirajte stulja s kurjaschej komnati. (assumes "area" is a smoking "room".)

Translated by a human being. smile

That russian translated by a person is more like "No take stools from smoking hall"

so, pretty poor

I wouldn't know, I don't do Russian. But you can tell the translator if you like.

Slovak.

Neodkladajte prosím stoličky z fajčiarskej zóny. D`akujeme.

This one is a formal request. What SGirl wrote, although correct, is a formal instruction.

My Russian is pretty basic, but that looks OK to me. You do realise that Russian has a different syntax to English, so if you literally translate you will come up with nonsense, rather like you just did?

Well seeing as I am a native Russian speaker, I'd say that my "nonsense" was written as an example of how that substandard Russian translation would look to a Russian person. wink

SGirl,

Do you have a need for another Slovak translator?

No idea, sorry. I just used whatever charactersets I have installed on my PC to cut and paste from an e-mail from the translator.

Personally, no - I don't offer Slovak myself. But is your wife a trained translator? If she is, I can think of at least one place that would be happy to keep her CV on file with a view to providing future work. I can ask around, too - there are bound to be a few. smile

She's not a trained translator but a native Slovak if that helps.
