Smoke it somwhere else!

My girlfriend has been living in her new apartment now for around six months, up until recently she has had no problems what’s so ever, but 3/4 weeks ago when a young Asian lady moved into the apartment below her she began smoking cannabis nearly every night.

The smell is extremely strong and hits you as soon as you walk in. We have tried everything to get her to stop. First off all I knocked on her door and said to her would she mind smoking that somewhere else and she agreed she would and apologised but the night after she was back to smoking it again, my girlfriend has complained to her land lord numerous amounts of times but all the land lord has done is send out a few threatening letters to her and as a last resort we have rang the Police non emergency number twice but they have yet to do anything at all which I find quite frustrating.

So what other options do we have as we should not have to put up with the smell of cannabis in the apartment and it absolutely must stop?

No you shouldnt. Something needs to be done to scare her a bit. Get a local hobby bobby in and tell them you think there is a cannabis farm there because it smells so strong.

Of course, I'm only joking. Don't know what to advise really, I can't see a pothead not smoking pot in their own home. Pressure (lots of) could perhaps make her move elsewhere, but if you think you're going to change her habits I don't think you've got a chance.

Its Racist, but, mention to a local bobby or police that an Asian person has moved in below and there is a strong smell of Cannabis now.

My dad lets lats and has had a few situations like this with foreign folk...

Smoke it out of the window for a start. That's what I get my mates to do when they are smoking the stuff. Still get the smell ovbiously but nowhere near as bad.

If the smell is that strong, what's making us sure it's being smoked not grown in vast quantities? Are there any 'additional wires' on the electric coming into the house?

Also, you may want to point out to your landlord that it's an offence under the misuse of drugs act to knowingly allow his premises to be used to smoke pot

If it's that strong then you could assume she is probably a dealer. Plus you keep hearing people coming and going don't you? especially at odd hours.

Won't take long until the drug squad come round at an odd hour either.

Ring the police and inform them that the lady downstairs sometimes does 33mph in a 30 zone.
They'll be there in a flash i'm sure.

Firstly - Police won't do anything.

Secondly - if you know who their landlord is, write to them telling them you will be reporting them to the police (empty threat, but they may believe it), for allowing the property to be used for the consumption of illegal substances. May kick the landlord into doing something about it.

I only know this, as a friend of mine went through a similar thing - this worked for him.

It's a good point, not one to stereotype...... but the majority of these gangs who set up these Cannabis farms seem to be Vietnamese.

Which part of Asia? My mother is an estate agent, and the company she works for have had issues with some Chinese 'tenants' that have ruined the house by growing lots of weed.

If she's just smoking it, she must be smoking some really strong stuff, ask her where she gets it.
