Been having a play with this, found it on the BBC website, pretty interesting stuff!

I'm not so sure it is.

I clicked next twice and it said £22k.

That was it. No prize or anything. I could have told you my minimum income I need.

Site's a bit boring. Surely they could jazz it up with some sponsorship from places like Fortnum & Mason, Harrod's, Asprey?

You can the adjust stuff.

But it's still rubbish. "Minimum standard of living" includes holidays and TVs apparently...

Ridiculous. What about the £2k a month allowance to go out for dinners at least once a week, and fuel BOTH your people carriers?

It can't cope with incomes above the 40% tax threshold so it's clearly ridiculously useless for PHer's.

That's the same as I'm paying for my mortgage (£211/mth).

(I am overpaying it though wink )

On Breakfast the woman from minimum income said it is based on one weeks holiday in the UK, and the assumption is that you can travel by public transport/ taxis so it is urban based.

I've got food as £44.34 a week. I live on my own and I know from my student days that I can survive perfectly well on £25 a week.

And then it has travel costs and motoring at £19.72 a week. If my petrol costs alone to get to and from work were that low I would be crying with joy.

23k odd

But then adjusted apparently I need 990 a week. Which is also bks.
Plus it can't cope with partner income over 40k.

Totally pointless website.
