Just curious..scenerio being you have been given some awfully horrible news, the news does not involve any of your loved ones. It is purely about you. You need to speak to someone about it to help make sense of the world, who do you call first?

Depends entirely on the nature of the news. It could be my OH (most likely) or my mum or my mates.

Where is the option for no-one? Whining to people about things that don't concern them is often tiresome.

Before the internet did people like the OP have these sort of conversations with real people?

My girlfriend or my dad most likely.

Kind of depends on the scenario really.

I realise it could vary depending on what it is, but say for example it is you have been diagnosed with something horrible, so it is purely about you, no one else and you selfishly want to talk to the person who might make you feel a little better.

I still do! Am just curious as to how different people vary.

So far it's always been one of my best mates who I've spoke to. Tend to keep a lot of stuff from my family.

I'd speak to my OH in all cases.

I voted best friend, although it's worth pointing out that it would probably be OH if I had one!

Also the friend I would call would probably vary depending on what the issue was!

That's the easiest one, just make sure when you explode, it's at a highly inappropriate place, like say a club when someone ever so slightly knocks you, then you go mental.

Or is this where we get people going around shooting school children and OAPs?

Quite clearly the proper thing to do is use a different log in name and post about it on PH receiving valuable advice/some sympathy intially, proceeding to a gentle ribbing from the more witty PH'ers, then all out abuse/character assasination from PH about having no mates and being sad for posting about it on PH in the first place.

It's a well trodden path.
