A lot of people I know find men that are famous attractive, be it film, sport, or whatever.

Now, there is no doubt many people in film are good looking, but why is it that women seem to find people incredibly attractive as soon as they're famous or all the other girls like them?

Take Robert Pattinson, the guy from the vampire films, an average looking guy I think you'll agree as in, he isn't out of the ordinary. He has millions of women that would do anything for him. Yet I'm pretty sure if he walked down the street and wasn't famous most wouldn't look twice...

I don't find men are as bad for this, but do you agree, and if so why does it happen?

I disagree entirely. It's obvious that Nicole would still be stepping out with Lewis Hamilton if he wasn't in Formula 1 but was flipping burgers in his local McDonalds instead.

yes
A friend of mine that is a quite well-known footballer over here (drives a RRS, of course tongue out), always seems to be found by some ladies in the club that "know" him. He's an average looking chap and the effect is completely gone when we go to Holland, for example.

People are attracted to success. If they know someone is successful (by their definition of "success") then they are more likely to be attracted to them.

I remember being in some sh*t club in London years ago when Dean Gaffney was in Eastenders...he was in there snogging the face off some stunning page 3 girl.

I bet she regrets that now.

Maybe someone will recognise this quote and put a name to it, because at the moment, I can't remember who it was. Anyway, the quote was -

Interviewer: So, what would you be if you weren't a footballer?

Footballer: A virgin

hehe

Whilst watching Wimbledon, I asked my GF if she thought Kim Sears would be with Andy Murray if he wasn't who he is in the tennis world.

Her answer was "no chance"

Personally, I'd be inclined to agree. Money, fame, wealth and power are all huge motivators yes

I disagree, don't get me wrong the motivation of some WAG types to make easy money would be there in some situations, but some of the celebrities I fancy it is not because of the wealth or fame it is because you watch a film or a programme and get to 'know' them. I know you don't actually get to know them but often stars play similar characters which you can presume (hope) is not dissimilar from their own personality.

For example people laugh when I say I fancy Kris Marshall, but I just love is goofy personality, not because of his share in BT. And Wentworth Miller from Prison break had such a sultry sexy dark yet kind and caring personality in the show girls can’t help themselves get all fappy over him. Although he is just very sexy anyway so bad example hehe Great I need a cold shower now.

Comepletly.

I was horrified to find out that both my GF and a mates GF, both thought Steven Gerrard was attractive.

I mean come on, I can understand it when some women say certain blokes are good looking but Steven Gerrard????

This.

It's also the power & wealth that comes with the success. They know that a highly successful football player/film star/musician etc can offer them a much better lifestyle than the average bricklayer can when it comes down to things such as VIP treatment at nightclubs, they're also a lot more likely to have plenty of money to spend on making life that bit more enjoyable.

Yes, because that's clearly the main draw of dating a Premiership footballer...

I meet a few models through work, and have known many of them go on to date footballers. These footballers aren't necessarily attractive, and some aren't even particularly famous (they play outside the Premier League). However, their income has appeal to these girls, in a far greater way than the men themselves.

Your typical glamour/lads' mag/promo model will be done and dusted career-wise by her late 20s - It's unpleasant, but a fact nevertheless. So, unless these girls manage to make something of themselves in their industry (move into talent-finding/management), they will be penniless (and often hopelessly unqualified) by their 30s.
So, the easy way to make sure they can maintain a decent lifestyle, is to get pregnant by (note: not necessarily shacked-up with, or married to) a footballer. These people enjoy ridiculous levels of disposable income, have plenty of free time, and often 'retire' to healthy pensions (or go into management infrastructure).

It's horrible, but that's the way the world goes around. And for a twenty-something tart from Croydon, whose only talents in the entire world are having vaguely aesthetically-pleasing nipples and smooth hair, it's a way of guaranteeing a certain standard of living.
It also helps that the typical professional footballer is far too thick to see this unfolding before their eyes... A fool and his money...

Sorry but I don't really agree personally. I tend to like someone because I have got to know them, and find something about their personality attractive.

If I was to see or had a chance to meet a 'famous' person, I honestly think I would avoid the situation like the plague. I'll just stick to 'normal' people thanks.
