Not a very descriptive Title but hey ho.

We have a normal arrangement in the Gent's toilets here, 1 cubicle, 1 urinal + sink/dryer. There is obviously a lockable door for the cubicle but the main door into the Gent's also has a lock on it. With me so far?

Some people seem to insist on locking the main door when using any of the facilities in there, which stops other people using the other 'option'. I'm baffled as to why somebody would have a crap and lock the main door (and presumably the cubicle door). I'm also baffled as to why they'd lock the main door when having a pee.

It only bothers me because I get to the door in need of the facilities to find that one person has effectively hogged both.

I realise that this probably sounds a bit silly but I'm interested in why they do it?

Can anyone explain? Do you do the same thing? No other place I've worked has had a lockable main door.

I await your pisstake and/or explanations smile

I'd be worried they were having a fumble if they locked the main door.

Maybe people have worked out they can use both the urinal and toilet at the same time...

Our toilets here at work have three urinals - and some muppets insist upon using the center one. (when the outer two are vacant)

I'm not afraid of others seeing what I've got, so happily occupy the adjacent urinal.

At which point said muppet rapidly zips up and leaves...

Do they have some kind of hang up?

And while we're on the subject..

We also appear to have a few that are not happy until they have toasted their hands under the dryer, whilst other wait in the queue.....

They're not happy until every crease of skin is devoid of moisture...

Is there a double external door arrangement to the gents, or are you exposed to the rest of the office if somebody pops in whilst you're using the urinal?

I's the ones who pee on the floor that irritate me. Was a big issue at my previous employer. Seriously, you've got a directional aid... pee in the urinal!! rage

So.. if the door was unlocked and both the cubicle and urinal were in use? Would you try and 'share' one of them?

Go on, budge up! We can both pee at the same time.
And you wonder why people lock themselves in.

I should have said that there is a window on the main door, which doesn't matter as you can't see the person using the urinal until you're into the room so I can't see that as being an issue.

I did notice that it's a fairly tight squeeze to get into the cubicle so I did think that a really fat person would struggle to get in and shut the door. This would explain it for the fatties, but I did coincidently see an average sized person leave.

I'm unsure what I should post:

A) Upon finding out the door is locked, gather 20-30 employees to all stand around said locked door and clap when they come out.

B) I'm sure the lock has a slot your side that it can be opened with (H&S, you see), simply open it up and ensure you're taking a leak when he exits the bog.
