Any suggestions?

It's our first wedding anniversary on 8th August but the Ritz is not available on that date....

Having been to Tea at the ritz (Don't eat beforehand... and you will not have to eat afterwards) I believe that they keep a number of spaces for walk in guests.... Worth giving a quick call to ask, but I recall the waiter saying this....

Food was cracking... really really good

The Dorchester. Arrive by cab and be fussed over by the doormen or arrive in your car and ask a doorman to park it. Marvellous, it's good for your soul and tea there doesn't get booked up as quickly as The Ritz. Fortnum & Mason is nice too, but they're not as generous with the portions as the hotels.

On a roll now. Have a go at getting into Vertigo in the City in the early evening. It's a champagne bar in Tower 42, the old Nat West Tower. You're on the 42nd floor looking out over London. Highest bar in London? Not sure. You get about an hour, say 45 minutes after frigging about with getting in and security. It is fantastic and not as expensive as you might think.

Not the highest bar in london (Pan Peninsula has a 50th Story Bar / Cocktail lounge) but its fun for the novelty factor.

How old are you, OP?

Tea at the Ritz is for octogenarians and tourists.

bks.

Fecking krauts.

You may enjoy poncing about in freshly ironed Barbours but you don't get it.

cf: RR & Bentley output of late.

Not so much a recommendation to the OP, but I had lunch last Monday with a Japanese girl here: http://www.fluidfoundation.com/venuedetails.aspx?V...

..and that was the view we had. Wonderful, which cannot be said for the Tate collection- utterly dire, apart from a couple of Dali originals..

the Dorchester is the epitome of glam and civility, but not cheap. We loved it.

Heard the Lansdowne was really good too, but went for the image factor rather than necessarily the quality if that makes any sense. If I was doing this sort of thing regularly then it would be a different matter.

Possibly more for the girls but my wife has done the Berkeley fashionista tea a couple of times and loved it - http://www.the-berkeley.co.uk/fashionista_tea.aspx probably a little more in vogue for younger couples than places such as the Ritz.
