At the Silverstone Classic on Sunday there were displays of cars by make, by model and by chance. As I passed one of the more random assemblies, I saw a bloke standing beside a Ferrari Testarossa positively drooling over the Austin Maxi parked next to it. It was such a good picture and where was my camera? It was at home, forty miles away. Twit.

When I was a kid I was on holiday with my family on the South Coast somewhere, sitting in a Pub garden on a nice evening. Being a busy pub with a decent garden, there was a Morris dancer display. Now I don't know how many Morris dancers PH has, but I find the whole thing quite amusing. This was made immeasurably more amusing, when in perfect choreography with the dancers and their sticks, two visibly tipsy guys joined them simulating a fight with a pair of toy lightsabers that they happened to have on them (during an evening in the pub).
This carried on for a minute or two IIRC, and the Morris dancers remained perfectly serious and dedicated to their routine throughout. As did 'Luke' and 'Darth'. Probably a terribly disrespectful act towards the Morris dancing community, but I have no remorse for laughing a lot at it. I was 12, and Lightsaber Morris dancing is awesome. Definitely wish I had got a picture.

Not car related but great all the same. Right at the end of a night shift at Tesco I walked round the corner in a little bit of a "it's 7am and I've been working all night" daze when I saw one of our managers, who had a reputation as rather strict, dressed as an SS officer.

Unfortunately it was in the days before camera phones!

Clarification required. You were wearing the suspenders and caught your mate wking?

I've got an even worse one: my "if only I'd thought to use the camera I had in my hands" moment.

At Maison Blanche at Le Mans in the Eighties a car lost control, hit the Armco, mounted it and ran along it like a monorail train. Then, when the fuel tank split, it ran along issuing flames like a useless sci-fi special effect. It landed back on the track and stopped, the marshals rushed up and made it safe and the emerging driver bowed to the crowd.

My 35mm SLR with motor drive was right there in my hands awaiting instructions. I could have retired on a sequence of shots like that.

When I was 11 the house next door was rented out to an Iranian student, (very humdrum area in Dublin). He had a new Facel Vega HK500 and gave me a few rides in it. I had no camera at the time, sadly.

Walking past Harrods on a business trip, when a limo pulls up and Kylie gets out and passes a few metres in front of me.

I stop and gawp at her while my female work colleague says "whatcha doing? who's that?"

My workmates wanted to kill me for not having a camera, but I must say that all my mobiles since then have had a camera just in case I see Kylie again....

yes that's what I read.
Who should be more embarrassed though? Him, wearing the thong of his mate's GF and suspenders, or the guy having a wk?

Working as a chippy back in the day around Earls Court. (Well actually it was in 21 Collingham Gardens 3rd floor flat).

We were working above and had scaffold access past their flat, especially the rear elevation wink

Taking tea at 10-10.30 each morning was never bettered by watching these two lovelies taking their morning showers after ablutions.

Nearly broke my wrist to be honest, and the job over ran.

Cheers

A few years ago, I saw a white van parked in front of an adult shop on one of the BUSIEST roads in Birmingham.

Then a midget came out of the shop and jumped into that van. It was a priceless sight, only if I had my bloody camera with me!

Why would you want a picture of your mate wking?

Driving through France a few years ago (returning from holiday). Three large cars and two smaller, all covered in black plastic addenda to disguise shape, overtook me in convoy. After going through the next peage I noticed they were all stopped at the air pumps but it was too late for me to pull over.

Never did find out what they were.
