SWMBO...Really?

It astonishes me how many chaps here refer to their other halves as "SWMBO" or mention 'getting things past the OH' or 'justifying' this that and everything else.
Why?
If I want to buy something, I do. It's my money. I'll do what I want with it. Likewise, I expect her to do what she wants with her money. If I want to go somewhere, I go. I do, of course, offer her the chance to come with me - sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't.
If I want to go out with my mates, I do. If she wants to go out with her mates, she does.
A relationship, surely, is all to do with give and take? Not all take on 'her' part?
Why?

There doesn't sound like much "give and take" in your description. It's just two people doing what they want.If I want to go out with my mates, I do. If she wants to go out with her mates, she does.

You don't sound like you are in a relationship, just two friends sharing a house.... Why?

You say "it's my money" - but in our house it is "our" money... That is what a relationship is?

You say "it's my money" - but in our house it is "our" money... That is what a relationship is?
When we're married and we live together, then I assume what you're saying would become reality.
My point is, that in my opinion, I've worked for my money and would very much like to do what I want with it. Seems to work...
It used to amaze me too, but I figured that it was either a joke, or blokes who didn't give a crap about women. But then I met more women and I realised there are a LOT of weird nutcase bunny boiler women who do behave strangely !!!
And yes I am a girl, it' just working in IT and being into cars, you don't actually meet that many girls!
