HI
A friend of mine had to move back to new york due to a family illness.
She has 1 suitcase which will need shipping out. It weighs about 35 kg ish. Whats the best way to ship it out. Fed ex wants £220!!!!
I was thinking £120 150ish.
Any ideas????
Thanks

A friend of mine used this lot here to ship about 5 tea chests full of books back home.

I was surprised how cheap it was - looks like you would be paying about £97 for New York, plus a bit for collection.

Bear in mind you will have to document everything in the case, you cant just class it as "personal effects" any more

I notice the company in that link uses UPS

I moved to NYC a few years ago and took everything on the plane with me. Plan was to expense any extra costs and my company has a history of paying thousands in extra baggage. Had no issue at the air port at all. They even sticker ed my bags up as heavy and I had my card ready to pay. I have done this many times since and the only air line I have had an issue with was easy jet.

Might be worth a try, or the worst advice ever.

35kg is not that much. I had bags that weighed much more (combined) and Virgin didn't bat an eyelid, I was flying business with a Media pass though. She will be fine.

I moved back here from NYC, and brought everything I had with me on the aircraft (although over a few trips)......it did help that I was basically allowed as much as I could physically carry due to my status on the airline.

However, I have found the airlines relatively reasonable and if only an extra 35kgs over normal allowance this might be the easiest/quickets/cheapest route to go......

It's s lot less hassle to take it on the plane. Depending on the airline it'll be around fifty quid . The maximum you can for one bag is normally 32kg so be careful.

Going down the courier route, as mentioned, means you will probably have to value and itemize everything.
