So what do people think of this:
http://www.spiggler.com

Seems like it has to potential to either scare the st out of a lot of people or be quite a handy stalking tool hehe

Odd, it works in opera.

It basically logs all geotagged twitters to a map and displays them.

Works fine in Mac (Safari) - really rather cool.

I GPS tag all my tweets from my iPhone, so may have to have a play with this!

I think he means you can watch bird movements on a map.

You do realise that most people don't know what geotagging is? Maybe your circle of friends are more technologically-minded but I am sure most of mine would look at me blankly if I dropped that word in a sentence.

You have to select whether or not to share your location before the map will load.

Men who wk a lot post inane stuff on ttter and this website has a handy map so you can see where said sad men are located, or something.

Personally, I think it's a fantastic website and whoever wrote and designed it is quite simply awesome. Totally awesome in fact.

Wow that is scary and quite possibly dangerous.

Now im not exactly old but I looked at my hometown and there was a girl who is like 17 or so twittering on it, showed me where she lived roughly, within 2 minutes i know her name, where she lives and a lot of other stuff.

Some head the ball who loved some kids twitter and thought they liked the look of that could find people easily. Plenty of people grow attached to internet personas and dont seem to realise real life ist the same, this is perfect for those stalkery people. Some wee girl twittering on about her life then Los Palmas 7 rocking up some night with a bottle of Rose? Scary.

Not only that she was going on about her PS3 games and her iPhone, I know roughly where she lives now and can probably find out when she is away on holiday/at work/day out/at school/when i can rob the place for at least a PS3.

Hmm I dont think I like the idea of that at all. Wont somebody think of the children?

Spiggler is a website that lets you view a map. You can choose what area is shown by the map.

People who "Tweet" on Twitter can, under the right circumstances, upload to the Twitter servers not just the message they want to send but also, through the magic of GPS and other technologies, the location from which their "Tweet" is being sent.

Spiggler shows these Tweets and their Locations on its map.

So I just saw a map of my home area with about four Twitterers on it and where their homes/offices/train carriages were when they posted a few Tweets.

It's innovative and the kind of web-service we will see a lot more of.

Yes. You could use it to find new people to stalk locally. yes

I genuinely thought it was common parlance, being surrounded by farmers i wouldn't call them technologically minded unless it involves a hammer and a gas axe.

Amongst my colleagues and friends "geocoding" and "geotagging" are common parlance.

But I work in IT. In an unrelated area. But "mobile and location based services" are, apparently, the NEXT BIG THING.
