Very sad news, thoughts are with the family and friends. I know there were a couple of ph'ers taking part this year so fingers crossed for their safe return.

Having taken part in the past and witnessed some of the standards of driving in kaz and Russia. I have to say I'm not very surprised this has happened.

We should have a drink and think of them. All the best to the families involved.

Ah man that sucks. Saw some Mongol Rally cars in Bruges a couple of weeks ago and was thinking how cool it all looked.

RIP frown

Sad news indeed.
I had a friend driving in the Trannsyberia in Mongiolia with a Cayenne a few years ago He said its brutal and he ended up launching into a writeoff crash down a steep drop that ripped the engine out of the car. the vid ( not published) from beginning to end of the tumble is 9 seconds. There is very little help out there. Its very primitive, and its very sad to lose a competitor.

Which is actually the appeal of the event, seeing parts of the world you would never normally get the chance to.

Although the trans siberian is VERY different to the mongol.
