Is it sad that I've just put my son to bed and I'm now about to embark on a major train set building adventure. It's either that or watching a st film/tv before reading in bed rolleyes

A: Because he'd love waking up to it in the morning

B (and for the most part) : Because it's good fun!

Ok, it's definitely a little sad. But what things do those on here love being able to do again now you have children?

Also big indoor soft play areas, great fun.

Scalextric, exploring rock pools, football (until I tore my calf muscle), adventure parks, star gazing to name just a few.

We're expecting our first child in a couple of weeks - I can't wait to be doing dad stuff with him/her! Few years before we get to railways and cars though.

One of the big advantages to having a son... He can get all the things I didn't, and I can try them too!

Be warned if people read this and think I want to play scalextrix now, don't!

I decided to be a big kid a few months ago and set it all up, barriers and flags included. 10 mins later I was fked from getting up from off my arse constantly to retrieve my mini from the other side of the room or from under the bed.
This was followed by the cry of aw ti fk wi this, it was promptly taken down and put back iin its box for another 5 years.

Sometimes kids have uses, in this case, scaletrix marshals.

Big slides at the park are great fun. Bought a bouncy castle last year, wish I had one when I was a kid!

You can get railways at any age, get the electric one, build it yourself and then watch as the baby watches in amaze. Even better if theres a station with a bell and other sounds, lights etc. Things like that are great for sensory development smile oh and congratulations! Though don't take the next couple of weeks sleep for granted!

Lego, yep that's another one I'm currently growing our collection of and we have a scaletrix I'll get that out next week biggrin

Will do, but don't be expecting anything too amazing. When I say major I mean I'll be using all the track we have. We don't have that much as I don't have much space in the living room lol!

No it isn't, it's very cool. Especially with the reason you gave for doing it. cool

I don't have kids yet but used to love playing on swings...I think that's probably what I'll be guilty of enjoying again when I've got a MiniMe or two. (Definitely can't get away with it as a single 31yr old bloke in this day and age unless I want to end up on a list of some sort).

Better than being a miserable old git not doing something that you'd enjoy but won't do it because it's "sad" and doing something miserable instead. I could watch some crap on TV or play Battlefield 2. I know what I will enjoy much more. Also, I like bringing toys to life and giving them voices... sometimes, children are around to laugh at the toys and talk to them... sometimes, adults forget they are adults and also talk to them. I couldn't give a st what others think of me. Upside is, kids think I'm cool cos I'm not like their boring parents while the adults have a genuine smile on their faces. I rock.

Thanks smile Well, my reason may sound good for me but he'll probably get up in the morning, tut and tell me he could of done better. Then go ahead and do a much better set hehe!

I guess I'll know it's time to worry when he's staying at his dads and I start building lego and train tracks then!

Did I say those adults were parents?
