No, from Paypal. Logged into my account, funds showing but wont allow me to withdraw.

Not keen on shipping item without funds being en route to my bank account.

Ah - buyer probably paid with an "echeque" instead of by credit card - does it actually say that funds won't be released until you ship, or does it say something about clearing ?

It's normal practice for PayPal now, you get the money once the buyer leaves you feedback in ebay!
It sucks big time

So if the buyer forgets, or is just arsey, and doesn't leave you feedback, you never get any money?

Nice.

I sold a Nokia N95 on E-bay recently and this happened to me. I called them up and asked why the money was 'stuck' and they explained that it will only be transfered across once the purchaser received the item and left positive feed back. If the item has been received but they don't leave feedback then you can contest with Paypal and the matter will be sorted within 30 day's. Bit of a pain but it is the most secure way for both parties I think.

Send anything recorded delivery so that you have a record that the purchaser received it as proof and you will have no issues getting your money back should something go wrong.

Paypal really are doomed at this rate. One of the race organisers who I compete with does an annual 24HR race, this year to "ease" the booking process they launched online booking with payment via paypal which was all fine and dandy and I paid instantly, however Paypal then prevented them from accessing any of the funds until after the event had happened, which is of course commercial suicide as when staging a full on 24hr off road race there are massive amounts of up front costs involved. The dispute with paypal ended up with everyone having to be refunded and asked to pay by either direct transfer or cheque as done previously, they have been well and truely burnt by the experience. Also Paypal had advised them that refunds would be done within 72 hrs, the reality was that it took nearly 3 weeks for me to get cleared funds back into my current account!

A few months ago I sold my first (and feckin' last( items on Ebay., Three car parts, of which two went swimmingly one was sold to a cretin (who didn't realised she had to pay postage!!!???))

Anyway, I had to enter all sorts of bks into Ebay, arrange this and that, and then two months later they sent me a bill for some monthly credit arrangement that I have no recollection of entering into.

I quickly signed out of everything and cancelled all the seller arrangements.

There was also something where they were demanding I give them my bank account details and authorise direct debit for any bills, rather than go through a credit card.

The whole 'selling' with Paypal thing seems to be so complicated it is beyond a joke.

I buy a lot on ebay and often forget to leave feedback so get emails from sellers asking me to do it so the fund get released.

Paypal is protecting the buyer too much IMO. OK, it encourages people to leave feedback but its not totally fair.

I just sold a bike helmet on eBay, funds came in no problems however when I sold my old iPhone I had to wait till I received positive feedback.

It only happens on certian categories, such as mobiles. There used to be a way around it by refunding a penny which would then release the funds but I believe they have closed that loophole.

They have been doing this for about a year now IIRC. Only seems to affect some people though. If they don't leave you positve within 21 days think the funds are released automatically, but still a pain.
