I can't imagine not doing it. 2 Minutes a year to remember the sacrifices people made? It's the least they deserve

I wanted to. I intended to, but got involved in a machine breakdown at work and before I realised it was 11:30.
I will however be on the march on sunday to show my respect.

Yes, our department did.
Some of the building do try to adhere to the 2 mins, but it's not always possible.

It really is the least we can do.

I did. I found it a little disrespectful that quite a few people continued working on their computers (admittedly in silence), rather than actually stop though.

Was on an MoD site this morning so the silence was definitely observed. Even heard the cannon shot from the centre of town. thumbup

Forgot paperbag

Didn't forget the day, but forgot what time it was, luckily i was browsing ph at the time (not had a very productive day) and they reminded me by closing the site for a few minutes

So I dropped everything and had a little silence.

Political correctness gone crazy.

A month of poppy wearing and then expecting everyone to take part is way over the top IMO. How about some remembrance for the tens of thousands of Iraqi and Afghan civilians who are casualties of Blair's wars? Or maybe a thought for the Palestinian civilians slaughtered in Israel's recent attacks? Or better still how about changing something?

Buy yourself a poppy, sit quietly for a few minutes and all the problems go away.....

Novocaine for the soul.

If you truly were grateful for them giving their lives, you would have done more than two minutes. I was silent until about 3pm when someone knocked on my door. jester

I was at home so I loaded up the PH page (I remembered them shutting it down last year as well and found having the poppy and poem up to be a nice thing to focus on).

We're having a two minutes silence at work on Sunday, ticket office closed for it and any customers that try to talk to us will be made to wait until it's finished.

no excuse not to, we still speak English and millions died, I find it disgusting that any person claiming to be British would not observe it! Anyone in my place that dared to break it would be very close to getting a slap!!

I don't think the majority of Brits believe that observing 2 minutes of silence is doing anything to alleviate the suffering of the victims of war. But that's not what it's about. It's about showing respect for members of the British armed forces who made sacrifices on all our behalfs - totally irrespective of whether any of the wars they fought in were justified or not. So, let's continue showing that respect -AND if you have the wherewithall, the will and the resources, then ALSO go and do whatever you can about illegal wars.

Not only that but for some of us it's a time to stop and think about our own family members who were lost. My brother and my uncle were both named after two men in my family that went to fight in the first world war and didn't come back, I suspect there's a few others who paused to remember their forefathers and their sacrifice.

My father fought for the 'other side' yet I observe the silence. (As did he.)
