Wellies - For the man with larger than average calves?

Been looking for wellies, tried Hunters and many other cheaper/more expensive brands. The only ones that fit are Aigle Field Boots(Parcours Iso Open) with the neoprene lining.

I don't really want to spend £160+ on wellies so does anybody know of a manufacturer that makes boots to fit an 'athletic' 51cm calf?

Musto half length ones are quite good (not a full knee height) Fulton (the chaps who do the umbrellas) are good as are Le Chameau.

I've never had wellies that fit until last year.

I've heard the Welsh get wellies with larger than normal tops so they can also fit the back legs of sheep in.
But that may just be a vicious rumour.

I found this earlier in the year, wellies seem to have shrunk and will no longer fit around one's calf.

However saw a friend with some traditionally sized wellies and he got his at Sussex Tractors, so I wonder if an agricultural merchant would help with finding decent wellies, probably cheap too!

I've tried Le Chameau, too small. I need boots with a full length zip I think. Will look into the Galloways... Thanks for the answers so far.

Thats part of the problem! I dont know! Didnt ask him that question! But I wonder if someone like Scats might do larger calfed wellies.

Does seem strange that wellies are suddenly too small!

Calf on the Galloways is only 43cm, looks like I'm stuck with the Aigles.

Only to repeat my recommendation of Hunters Balmoral, they are the only Hunters I can fit in.

The only other brand I would suggest trying is Ariat, I know they do some decent wellies similar to Hunters

Balmorals have a calf fitting of 41-45cms, at 51cms perhaps I'm larger than a large average.

Looking into the others now.

I’m going to top this old thread, 50cm calves here. My size 13 Muckboots have split, I’ve just got a new set and they are way too tight, so I swapped them for a size 14 and the calf size is the same so that’s two pairs that need to go back.

Anybody else with calves like ham hocks got any suggestions?

Dunlop purofort worth a try if you're not too worried about labels.

40 quid or so, comfortable for my 5 mile daily dog walk and last well. Much more spacious in the calf than the muck boots I have but never wear.
