We tend to shack up with the one woman who's pretty to us over all others (within the realms of what is demonstrably obtainable). So the rest are immaterial anyway - but we can still enjoy looking at them. It's nicer if the women we can't have are copping off with each other, for our viewing pleasure - instead of with another bloke (competition, to which we can only say "jammy bd") etc.

This is why straight men like watching fit lesbians "do stuff".
