Just finished the 8th (and current final) book in the Bourne series. Read all the Andy McNabs, Chris Ryans, Vince Flynns, Stephen Leathers....Army, spy, crime, murder death kill, and need something new to satisfy a blood lust.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance, Pixel Pusher.

Jeffrey Deaver. The Lincoln Rhyme books. His book "The Bone Collector" was made into an OK film, but is much better as a book. My favorite of his is "The Coffin Dancer", but you should do some research and read them in order.

If you fancy some old-school "spy", then the original James Bond books are worth a read.

I was given the full box set for my birthday last year and, as well as being (in the most part) pretty exciting books, its fascinating to see how the character develops and how Fleming's writing style improves through the series.

Apart from the threat of fire and brimstone, the occasional ear cutting, execution and near killing of a boy, there probably won't be much to satisfy your blood lust. There were no AK-47s mentioned in the Bible.

I read Prof. Sid Watkins book not so long ago. Fantastic. Very poignant section about Senna in there who pretty much died in his arms, but also some great anecdotes, particularly one about when he was campaigning for a safety car to do the first lap. An over enthusiastic saloon car racer from Italy started at the back of the grid of a club race with the Prof and the story goes that the guy had overtaken half the field by the first corner and was leading by the end of the first lap!!

Great read.

Go sci-fi, and read the Reality Dysfunction by Peter F Hamilton. Follow it up with the other two books in the trilogy - the Neutronium Alchemist and The Naked God. Brilliant. I re-read them just the same as I come back to the Lord of the Rings every couple of years.

How did you find the books from 4 onwards?
I've read a number of reviews that really cane them and claim that they are not a patch on the first trilogy?
