Annoying texts.

For some reason I keep getting annoying text messages from companies offering me loans, injury shysters, life insurance etc. You know the type....
"You have been pre-approved for a £10,000 loan to accept reply "LOAN" to get a quote to opt out reply "STOP" to this number"
"Our records show you could be entitled to £3,450 in compensation from an accident you had three years ago reply "CLAIM" to find out more reply "STOP" to opt out"
....and on; and on.
Well I'm fed up of texting "STOP" to these bottom feeding scam artists so I send this instead.....
"This is an automated responce. The number you have tried is no longer in use and the new number is (insert number of another scammer here)"
That works better than "STOP" does.

You tick the boxes on the main webpages. Next time look at the T&Cs in detail instead of just ticking the box to claim that you've read them. Once a week I receive three texts together all urging me to click a link and play some bloody game, Gogoy or something. No idea how they got my number, I don't gamble online or anything similar. Wish they'd stop.
See my answer above.There's no specific targetting of your social habits, other than you having a mobile.

Any web form I don't fancy the look of - such as an insurer - gets 07711000000 should it demand a mobile number. Sorry to whoever that is 
I still get these texts occasionally, mind - but they don't make up 0.1% of messages I receive so I really don't care that much.
Received an unrequested text, didn't respond or follow a link or anything. Got my bill later that month, been charged £3 for getting the text. Didn't fancy just texting STOP in case it activated a whole new set of charges.
Rang Orange who credited the cash back and told me that replying STOP would do the trick. They have some sort of database of all the senders numbers and seem to be able to tell you if legit or not.

That's why I keep getting them. I was talking about this in the pub last night (slow night I know) and a "friend" of mine (friend of a hanger on at least) sends this......
"This number is registered to a member of MI5 any further unautherised contact will be considered a breach of the counter terrorism act and the person responsible will be arrested".
Apparently it never fails.
