Where are all the big fat Americans?

We are on holiday at the moment in California.... First time here and what has sup prised me is how slim everyone is... Not what I was expecting to see...

In fact there were far more fat people in Morrisons in Bilston last week than I have seen here!!

Are al the fat Americans you hear about in other states?

I went to Colorado and never saw any fat people at all for weeks.
Then we went into a mcdonalds and it was full of fat people force feeding their 15 stone kids double cheeseburgers..
they're all either in there or watching TV..

I Just got back from NYC. I couldnt believe how skinny people are out there. Then I realised you have little choice but to walk everywhere and keep fit weather you like it or not, even when they serve salads over 1000 calories.

I know it's wrong to generalise, but there are plenty of fatties in Florida. The myth about US vs UK teeth though, is utter rubbish IMO. You see shocking American teeth wherever you go, just not on TV.

I travel a bit in North America, my observations were that in Boston it was like England, i.e. normal plus some big and very big people but in Atlanta, certainly the Suburb where I end up every few months there were a lot of very big people, not being racist here but there were a lot of bigger black ladies and nearly as many men that size, Canada doesn't seem to have that many fatties.

Not noticed it tbh - the UK is far, far worse - even the really fat ones here aren't as repulsive as the Iceland brigade back home - plenty of nice looking girls here aswell

I spent the last 2 weeks in Arkansas and found they were all in Walmart. Either that or church.... Oh and there's a queue for every McDonald's drive through, all the time, whatever the time. I did see Mr. Arkansas though, he was quite the muscular lad.

But I lived in America for 7 years or so, and have been back numerous times since. I find more people are willing to keep fit and/or play sports there. My girlfriend is actually American and she runs cross-country for her college.

In my experience the coast of America (say up to 100 miles in) is totally different to the interior, that is where you will find the fatties, as said before California is totally different bag

Being Irish, I bizarrely get people randomly saying "potatoes" to me. Any excuse to mention that, or leprechauns, or say "top of the morning", and they will in a most determined effort to show their cultural unawareness.

Having said that, I give as good as I get, to be sure.

I think that in the more deprived areas of the USA you tend to see the fatter individuals, as good food does not seem to come nearly as cheap as fast food.

In areas where the weather seems to be nice most of the time people are generally more active which also helps.
