Is it time to Ban the PH Spelling police?

Firstly, I hate text speak type posts from people who either can't or don't care enough to use the English language to be at least understandable.
But theres too many posts lately with people just correcting any little mistake in any post. It's starting to take away from the often interesting threads. The only real way round this is banning the offenders. Is that too harsh? Are there other ways. The mods need to keep a balance on it. And at the moment it's way out of balance.

Does anyone agree or am I just being grumpy.

In all seriousness, it's not an English exam, but trying to read garbled and badly punctuated posts is quite hard on the brain...

Indeed, the P&P Lounge is the place for linguistic sticklers. If the meaning is clear then it shouldn't matter, but it is always helpful to the readers to use proper English.

ban the offenders, the standard of contributions on PH has dropped massively in recent years. I am not just talking about spelling, but about the way in which opinions are expressed and arguments are made.

HA HA. Yes it can be. But compared to other forums PH is actually pretty good. I agree we all have a duty to keep the English language alive and up to scratch. And pulling someone on a bad post is fine if it's hard to read. I'm talking about the posters who pull others up on one single mistake. Its not needed, not funny, not really that helpfull and is getting tiring.
