So having walked 8 miles yesterday and 19 miles today, apart from feeling absolutely knackered, I feed great!

Here is the question, would you more knowledgeable phers say it would be damaging to a 20 mile walk every weekend once the body has accustomed to it?

As long as you listen to your body (no aching joints, etc) and have decent kit then why not?

Apologies if this advice is a bit too basic - make sure you've got some decent shoes. smile

To be honest walking on decent terrain and in decent enough footwear is not very high impact. I think the body could get quite used to doing those sort of distances a day providing you got enough downtime and ate properly...

This.

I walked 10 miles on Bank Holiday Monday last week and still in pain - the left foot arch - can barely put weight on it. I'm sure badminton tonight is going to do it the world of good wink

But with far,far less of the fitness, stamina and weightloss benefits.Joints ie ligaments and tendons adapt to their usage, this is 'training principle.'

99.9% of running injuries are because of overuse.Y'know..by people who don't increase their mileages gradually and develop niggling injury which becomes chronic...and the

same applies to any other sport.

Don't forget the crap kit element!

Poor shoes, worn-out trainers, unsuitable socks, etc...

i take the dog on long walks, my top tips are two pairs of socks, good boots, and some water.

it amazes me that people are willing to carry a bottle of water for six or seven miles, then chuck it away when its empty.

if you have an iphone runkeeper pro is agood app.
