Better than 6 I mean. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner and an apple or banana in between. I eat roughly 1500-1700 calories a day and by eating 3 meals a day it really helps me lose weight more than when I was eating 6 meals a day (which I really didn't have time for) I'm about 14-18 lbs over weight and it's coming off slow at 2-3 lbs a week. There is a hungry spot of the day between around 4 and half 6/7 when I eat but usually water makes that go away. Also worth noting I do cardio for an hour a day 3-4 times a week at the gym and a little weight lifting.

1700 calories a day and 4 hours of cardio a week will drop weight even if you were having 10 meals.

No. Splitting my calorie intake into 3 portions makes me feel bloated and sluggish for ages - but then I've been eating 5-7 times a day for years now...

True enough, however it's a healthy amount to eat. It was more the timing of the 6 a day which failed me.

I couldn't do 6...or 3. Wrong as it may be I would rather have one big big satisfying 1700 calorie meal.smile

Well, if you can resist eating between meals when you get hungry (which it appears you can) then great.

One disadvantage of 3 meals a day, apart from having hungry moments, is that because you are storing more at each sitting, your stomach won't shrink as much as if you were to eat 6 smaller meals ie less total bulk. It sounds stupid but when I was on soup for a month or two after a bowel op, once I was back to solids, I found it hard to eat a normal portion of food.

Four meals works well enough, although I should add that one of said meals is usually a protein shake bulked out with blended oats or flax seeds.

Six meals was more of a faff than anything and I didn't notice any great improvement over 4 meals.

Thus there is a benefit to 6 meals a day!

I've always found Leangains quite interesting but I know personally as someone with a crazy appetite it simply wouldn't work for me. Actually I get very grumpy when I get hungry so I eat about 7 meals a day, it keeps hunger away and I can do so without getting hungry.

http://www.leangains.com/

I know folk who do it in different ways and on the whole most ways seem to work if the food is right and the person is training intensely enough.

Me, too. Grumpy, shaky and wobbly. Four more and I could do a Seven Dwarves joke.

Shaky and wobbly are a result of low blood sugar, not hunger.Just add more carbs to your existing meals.Think of your meals as fuel and how long its effects need

to last for.

I know you know. You should know better,I'm sure you know that as well.I can only conclude that you enjoy being both shaky an wobbly and deliberately adjust your

diet so these symptoms manifest regularly.Weirdo. biggrin
