First venture here so hi!

Okay, my OH got up last night 2am to answer natures call. Back to bed no prob. When he woke a 5.45am his leg was hurting. Thought nothing of it. As the day has progressed the pain has got worse until its actually hard to take his foot from accelerator to brake.

When he removed his trousers, he as an egg shaped bulge on his thigh, very painful to touch, and agony to move. He finds it hard even to cross his legs.

He describes it like someone has given him a bad dead leg, but no bruise, just lump, and I certainly haven't been kneeing him. Sure he would have noticed.

Coincidentally I have an apt with my Osteopath tomorrow which he could use, or do you think he should see GP?

Any ideas what it might be?

Thanks

Di

I never understand these threads. Why take the risk? It is so likely to be something innocuous, but as it's probably too late to get to the docs, just pop down to A&E!

I appreciate what you are saying guys, so thank you. To him its similar to what he suffered in the distant past playing rugby, and appears just muscular, so being him didn't want to waste professionals time.

I haven't seen yet as I am still at work but will advise accordingly when we get together later.

Thanks again.

I'm sure it will be fine! And if I'm honest as a typical bloke I'd side with Lord Topaz & just ignore it (I may have a little bit of glass in my left foot, but it'll be ok!)
For peace of mind get it checked out! (this thread doesn't need pics wink )

+ a million.

Internet diagnoses are fraught with danger, where as your lump may not be.

Get your other half to see his GP

Best case, mosquito bite puffed up. Worst case, DVT. More likely some sort of abcess or deep bruise not (yet) visible at the surface. Definitely one for the medics to decide - they could do a quick ultrasound to see what's what, f'rinstance.

If he doesn't want to bother A&E with something that he thinks might not be serious (but would probably be more serious than whatever afflicts half the lowlife hanging around the waiting area in any case) then have a Google and see if there's any walk-in centres or minor injury units in your neck of the woods.

They do actually work quite well around here and I think people are happier to use them and not think "Oooh, it's nothing really. Merely a flesh wound. I'd better not bother A&E they've got better things to do"

I had one of them removed just last week... no bother for a year or two and then in the space of a week it was getting bigger and being right next to the tendon near my knee I wasnt taking any chances as it was begining to make my leg ache.

The smell from it made me gag... but its gone now.
